Mike Rice is a visual journalist living in Minneapolis. With more than two decades in the newspaper business, he has experience with: print design, art direction, illustration, informational graphics, headline writing, copy editing, design editing, photo editing, pre-press, marketing, coaching, mentoring, web design and bad jokes.

Oversee and execute the production of daily features sections.

Mike has been recognized on the local and international levels for his newspaper design work. Some highlights include:

  • Multiple Awards of Excellence and Silver Medals from the Society for News Design. Categories include news design, features design, breaking news, art direction and portfolio of work.

  • Judges' Special Recognition award from SND for the design across print and digital mediums.

  • Designer of the Year. 2007. Arizona State Press Association.
